Just 20 years after the release of rap legend and Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon's first solo album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, the Staten Island native has announced that he will be re-releasing the album, in a cassette, in honor of its anniversary. The album was the first of its kind, being that the album was presented as a "movie". Raekwon was the "star" while fellow Wu-Tang Clan members Ghostface Killah and RZA were [respectfully] the "co-star" and "director" (seeing as to how RZA produced the album). |
The re-release is being called the "Purple Tape Watch Box" and is actually available today (10/26/15) for pre-order. The box set includes the original album in a purple cassette, which will be embossed with both the Wu-Tang Clan and Raekwon's logos. The entire collection will be in a watch box and also includes a 118-page hardcover book of photos, lyrics, and other materials from the original album. You can purchase/pre-order the whole set here.
