I wasn't going to report on this story because I thought it would blow over too quickly to even be relevant but when I heard the ACTUAL audio and Black Twitter's response to it, I knew all hell broke loose! Chris Brown's ride or die girlfriend, Karrueche has landed a small hosting gig with BET lately. It began doing some corresponding for the BET Awards and recently she was a fill-in host for "106 & Park. But on Monday night, just one day after the Beyonce received the Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards, BET's writers thought it would be okay to poke fun at Beyonce's daughter, Blue Ivy, and poor Karrueche was the messenger.
In a VMA recap segment called "The Top Six Things Blue Ivy Thought About the VMA's" Karrueche said, "I really did wake up like this because my parents never comb my hair." Immediately after reading it, laughing, she tried to clean it up with the follow-up, "Sorry Blue! I love you!" And if it already wasn't bad enough that Karrueche is connected to Chris Brown and Rihanna is Beyonce's husband, Jay Z's artist. The joke made it worse...... It didn't take long for the #BeyHive to attack.
Check out Karrueche's bad decision below:
Black Twitter's Response:
WHAT WOULD YOU DO!? You are on the job, following instructions but doing your job may hurt your conscious. When judgement calls, what would you have done if you were Karrueche? Who is at fault here? Should we blame her or just BET?
From another angle, it angers me that a toddler is not allowed to sport her hair in it's natural state without criticism. When did the afro again become a "hot mess"? You criticize Beyonce for almost anything she does or wears. But, this is a child people! Im pretty sure North West never gets her hair done, we don't complain about that.
As a minority, I believe Karrueche should have been race sensitive to her statement and understood that it could have caused controversy. Every black mother has experienced the extensive process of doing their child's hair. It usually consists of hours of forcing your child to sit still or trying to accomplish the hairstyle while your child is sleeping. Let's applaud Beyonce for allowing her child's hair to grow naturally and for all we know Blue Ivy may not want to sit and get her hair done. I would rather see a happy baby anyway. The video below shows a happy baby, dancing to her mom's song with a natural afro. Do you see anything different?
