The nominations come just a week before Jackson's 11th studio album, Unbreakable, is set to be released. Unbreakable features her latest single "No Sleep" which features Roc Nation artist J. Cole. N.W.A. has had quite the year, with the success of their biopic Straight Outta Compton and with Dr. Dre's album Compton, it only makes sense that they too are in the running. Inductees are determined by a panel of over 800 other artists, historians, and music industry professionals. An artist or group can be considered for spot as long as it has been 25 years or more since their first single or album release (so in the case of the latest set of nominees, their cut off year is 1990). Janet Jackson and N.W.A. join Cheap Trick, Chaka Khan (as a solo artist), Steve Miller (as a solo artist), Nine Inch Nails, and a host of others! The 2016 inductees will be announced in December of this year, and the actual ceremony takes place in New York in April. Good luck to Janet Jackson and N.W.A.! We're rooting for you!
