Pioneer comedian Joan Rivers passed away, Thursday, after surgery complications that lead to an induced coma. River's had a throat procedure and went into cardiac arrest. The fashion icon was 81 years-old.
River's daughter Melissa has been giving updates on her mother's condition since she was hospitalized after a minor surgery last week. Melissa released a statement expressing her gratitute to all of Joan's supporters.
"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. ET surrounded by family and close friends. My son [Cooper] and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother," Melissa, 46, said in a statment.
Joan Rivers is remembered for her comedy, boisterous comments, plastic surgery, fashion, and her ability to reinvent herself throughout the last 5 decades.
Last year Joan told People magazine that she would never retire and that is exactly what she did. May you rest in peace Joan Rivers!
